0"What was that?" - Ultear asked, confused.

"Our energies are different, that's why I can't see your memories in the normal way, so I had to use a bit more direct method" - Kurama answered while scratching his cheek.

"Is that why it was the kiss?" - Ultear asked in surprise and slightly annoyed.

"Yes, I'm sorry for being so surprising" - replied Kurama while shaking his head - "But that was the quickest way to tune our hearts and I can check your memories, and I have to admit that it's a bit worrying to have a subordinate like you."

"Sorry, but the deal's already done" - Ultear snorted as she folded her arms, only to widen her eyes in surprise at how quickly her attitude was changing - "What was that?"

"Possibly, an influence from our attunement" - replied Kurama as he shook his head - "Anyway, let's go right away."

Without further ado, Kurama quickly created a strange portal in front of them.

Ultear could feel her heart beating a mile a minute, just to take a breath and take a step without fear, after all, she had nothing to lose.

If he wished to trick her to capture her, then he would be the stupidest person in the world because he just had to take her, and it would all be over, no need for so much trouble.

Slowly, a huge amount of light began to invade her vision, so she could do nothing but close her eyes, only to feel everything around her start to chill.

"Open your eyes, we're here" - said Kurama calmly.

Ultear slowly opened her eyes, only to be surprised to see how much of her surroundings were covered in snow - "This place is"

"Yes, it's the place where you and your mother lived before you were separated" - mentioned Kurama as he walked around curiously.

Ultear shivered slightly from the cold and excitement, only to feel a warm sensation invade her body.

"With this, people from the past won't be able to interact with us, unless we talk to them first" - said Kurama while shaking his head - "Interacting with people from another era when traveling through time, means a huge burden for the two people that could cause death and drastically change the course of a dimension."

"Didn't you say that our intervention would not affect our present at all?" - Ultear asked with a frown.

"That's right, but that doesn't mean they won't affect you as a time traveler" - replied Kurama while shaking his head - "As I said, interacting with the past makes a person suffer a huge burden, not only physically, but also mentally, and if you're going to be mine, then I'd rather you not be mentally retarded, thanks"

"That's not a nice way to put it, master" - Ultear snorted as she shook her head because again she wasn't acting like she normally did, at least not for as long as she could remember - "Is this my true character?"

"Possibly, it's a very hidden personality in your subconscious" - Kurama answered while glancing at her - "Possibly you are a kind person by nature, however, the situation made you become someone cold and without empathy."

". . ." - Ultear was silent as she recalled her dark past, only to frown as she saw how it was filled with negative emotions, as if fate wished to see her being corrupted.

"I can see a huge darkness in your soul, but deep down I feel light, I can even feel how you are trying to use someone as if they were your lifeline" - Kurama said as he noticed how the woman opened her eyes in surprise - "I don't know who it is, but I have to thank him for making you keep some morality in your heart".

Ultear kept silent as she remembered a certain girl calling her mom, only to shake her head and thought how to repay her, after all, such it seemed that Meredy had done more than Ultear thought.

"Anyway, let's get back to the important topic we came here to discuss, however before we continue on our way, there is something I have to tell you, I want you to observe everything in silence before you decide what to do" - said Kurama while looking at the black-haired woman - "After that, you will decide what you want, and don't worry, we can come back to this exact point if necessary if you need a lot of time to decide."

"Ok, thank you" - Ultear said as she looked around excitedly before she heard something that froze her.

"I beg you, please help me, she is suffering!" - exclaimed a female voice.

Ultear quickly ran in her direction and saw a beautiful woman with short black hair who was wearing light clothing for the frigid weather of the place.

"My daughter requires help!" - exclaimed the woman as she carefully hugged the tiny baby she held in her hands - "I don't know what she has."

"Listen, I can't do anything for her, that's not a disease, but a magical saturation produced by her huge reserves" - said a doctor while frowning and looking at the beautiful woman - "A baby shouldn't have such a magical power, that's why her body can't resist it".

"But there has to be a solution!" - The woman exclaimed as she started to cry.

"Ok, I'm going to give you a solution, although I'm not sure if it will work out or not" - said the doctor as he sighed before pointing her in a direction.

The woman thanked him and quickly ran in the mentioned direction, not noticing how two people were watching her.

"She doesn't look like the kind of woman who would abandon her daughter" - said Kurama as he watched the story unfold.

Ultear didn't respond, she just followed the woman until they reached a laboratory on the outskirts of the city, one that she recognized immediately because it was the place where her mother abandoned her.

"This place doesn't look very reliable, however, it's obvious that your mother is desperate by the way she's screaming for help" - Kurama said as he saw how the black-haired woman was crying and begging on her knees for help, until finally a scientist nodded and asked her to leave the baby with him, so they could solve the problem, or at least find a way to alleviate the magical overload.

"They told me that my mother had told them she would be back in 5 days, so she could check my condition, but she never came back" - Ultear said while looking at Kurama, who just made another portal.

The two quickly went inside, only for the woman not to notice any difference - "How many days passed?"

"24 hours" - Kurama answered while shaking his head - "Something tells me we'll see something important."

Ultear gave him a confused look, only to notice how her mother again had appeared and started asking about her condition. She froze because it was obvious that the men in the lab had lied to her by telling her that her mother had abandoned her when she was asking about her condition.

Kurama quickly created another portal, so he could travel 24 hours into the future, so on and so forth until 5 days had passed.

Ultear could feel her world falling apart because it was obvious that her mother was worried about her because there wasn't a day that she didn't show up at the place asking about her condition, but things took a 180° turn on the fifth day, a turn that she didn't expect and that tore her apart even more.

"What do you mean that my daughter died!" - Ur roared angrily as she felt tears running down her cheeks - "Yesterday I was told that she was in perfect condition and that I could take her home today!"

"I'm sorry, her condition worsened when we weren't checking" - replied the scientist he recognized as one of the lab's top brass.

"Bastards!" - Ur roared as she froze everything around her thanks to a powerful icy aura, only to take a breath while still crying - "I want to see her, I need to be sure she's dead!"

"I'm sorry, her body disintegrated thanks to her enormous latent power, there was nothing left of her body" - replied the scientist with sorrow.

Ur's expression froze as she felt everything around her go dark.

Unable to control her emotions, a huge amount of ice began to surround her body as she felt part of her soul disappear.

"Mother" - Ultear murmured as tears ran down her cheeks.

All she knew, were lies, all her pain, did not compare to that of her mother who thought she was dead - "Why?"

"Human greed is something you can't underestimate" - Kurama replied as he shook his head as he watched the beautiful black-haired woman, walk away with a melancholic aura, showing that it was obvious that she didn't want to be in this place anymore.

"Mother" - Ultear murmured as she burst into tears.

Kurama gave her a hug as he waited for her to vent because it was obvious that this was too much for her, after all, she had been lied to all her life, thinking that mother had abandoned her for being a burden.
