Tricking My Cold Lover

Yanmei's Sudden Thirsts

Yanmei's Sudden Thirsts

0"Chan-Mi, how are you? You haven't gotten back to me yet? Is everything okay with you and Salvi? Salvi is not answering me either, but Uncle Spinello mentioned you are facing a serious concern," Maria texted Chan-Mi first thing in the morning.

Maria had tried calling her the other day as well, but Chan-Mi was too occupied being comforted by her Amore. She did not want to speak to anyone else.

It had been two days since she found out about the condition of her uterus, and Yanmei was taking her to see a different doctor. It was even better since the Yanmei's doctor specialized in Gynecologic Oncology, Dr. Bong-Cha Yang.

"Um. I'm okay, Maria. Salvi and I are going to see another doctor today. So we will be busy," Chan-Mi replied and put her phone inside her bag.

She did not expect Maria would still resume communicating with her. Chan-Mi noticed how her phone continued to vibrate, but she just ignored it as they were heading out and Salvi had already arrived at the Yeongs' mansion with Spinello.

Heartbeats later. Yanmei, Spinello, Salvi, and Chan-Mi were already at the doctor's clinic and it was there where Anton was able to catch up with everyone.

"Dad!" Chan-Mi called. She felt so relieved, seeing Anton. With her father around, she concluded how she had more strength to face whatever would be the findings of her condition.

She stood up and immediately hugged Anton. She looked up to him and said, "Dad, why didn't you come home? I'm sorry if I made you upset."

Anton first embraced Chan-Mi and said, "No, sweetheart. You were right, I might have been too harsh on Nari, but we can talk about that later. Today, let's find out how what's your actual condition."

"Thank you for coming, Dad," said Chan-Mi while pressing her face against her father's chest.

Yanmei also got up and joined the embrace. She pecked on Anton's cheeks and said, "You feel better?"

"Yes. I feel better," said Anton before tightening his hold on his wife.

Just as they were having a family moment, the doctor's secretary called for them, "Ms. Yeong? It's your turn - oh, everyone is coming in?"

"Yes, everyone is coming in," said Anton.

From inside the clinic, Dr. Yang was taken aback by the number of visitors that walked in. She winded her eyes, looking at Yanmie, and asked, "Your daughter this time?"

"Yes, my daughter. This is Chan-Mi," answered Yanmei. She took the seat in front of the table and directed her daughter to take the other.

The rest found their own seats while Salvi stood behind Chan-Mi.

It was Yanmei who first explained how her daughter saw another doctor and consulted on how to prepare for conceiving. She showed the scans that were provided to Chan-Mi. She said, "She was told that with the size of the cyst, her entire uterus had to be removed."

That instantly made the doctor frown while she was reading through the scans. She said, "Well, it - it really depends, but that can't be decided by... just one look."

The doctor glanced at Chan-Mi and asked, "I'd like to know if you have any irregular mensuration?"

"There are rare occasions that I miss a month," told Chan-Mi.

"It's when she stays up all night to make a painting," revealed Yanmei.

"I see. Those sleepless nights could cause hormonal imbalance and from a cyst, so if you want to have children, you should balance your sleeping hours," told the doctor. She then resumed to asked a few more questions.

Dr. Yang: "Did you ever get sick lately - seriously sick? Infections also form into cysts."

Chan-Mi: "No, once in a while - a cold, but would only last for two days or so."

Dr. Yang: "Have you had any pain in your abdomen?"

Chan-Mi: "Just a little when I have my period - usually the first day."

Dr. Yang: "That's normal, but what about on other days?"

Chan-Mi shook her head and said, "No, I don't feel any discomfort."

Dr. Yang: "What about excessive bleeding? Those kinds that would not be accommodated by a sanitary pad for an hour of use."

Chan-Mi: "No. I - I don't."

Dr. Yang: "Pain during intercourse?"

"Oh, my gosh!" Yanmei coughed again and again, promptly reacting after the doctor's latest question. She turned to her husband and said, "Mine, please get me water. Please. My throat is - it's itchy."

"O - okay," said Anton. He was not able to catch the last question and stepped outside the clinic, following Yanmei's sudden thirst.

Salvi, who had droplets of sweat on his forehead, sighed in relief and it was the same for Spinello.

Only after Anton left did Chan-Mi flushed. She looked up to her mother before answering the doctor, "No. No pain."

"I see. Well, normally a cyst this size would already cause discomfort. I think it really is best for me to take a look at it myself," said the doctor.

Chan-Mi was directed to another section of the doctor's clinic where an ultrasound was available. Only then did Anton return to hand his wife her bottle of water.

Like the last, the doctor took her time to check on Chan-Mi's uterus, repeatedly moving pelvic ultrasound.

After about five minutes, Dr. Yang said, "That's strange."

With a frown, the doctor reported, "It's true, you have a cyst, but your report says thirteen centimeters!" Shaking her head the doctor said, "Let me check it again."

"Yes, it's - it's two inches big, about five centimeters." Dr. Yang glanced at the report again and said, "This doctor is a good doctor. In fact, this same doctor has covered my patients in the past. I wonder what went wrong?"

"It is already big. Mind you, but for now. It's too early to say if your entire reproductive organ has to be removed. We have to determine if it's really cancerous but to be honest, it does not seem like it."

While everyone was puzzled, Anton's eyesight seemed to have darkened. He wondered about the doctor who first studied his daughter. He thought, 'How dare that doctor to suggest removing Chan-Mi's uterus!'

"What are you saying, doctor? It's not so alarming?" Yanmei asked, standing on one side of the room, with Anton behind her.

Spinello, remained on the other side of the clinic, merely hearing their conversation.

"Um. Well, our uterus makes ovarian cysts for a living so we do get them occasionally, but they normally go away on their own," said Dr. Yang. "I will prescribe you some pills and see if the cyst will resolve on its own."

Standing by Chan-Mi's other side, Salvi asked, "Wait, so an operation is not needed?"

"And how can we tell if it's not cancerous?" Chan-Mi added.

"We need to have more tests. A blood test will help me determine if it might be cancerous, but the chances are slim. Rarely are ovarian cysts cancerous. I suggest a pelvic MRI determine the solidity of the mass," told the doctor. "Or we could wait!"

"We could first try the pills and see if it goes away. If it doesn't, we can have an MRI, but if fertility is a concern, I have to admit, the cyst is blocking the passage of the fallopian tubes. It does affect the chances of getting pregnant," told Dr. Yang.

"Let me ask you though, how long have you been try - "

"Oh, my God! I'm so thirsty! Mine, I need another bottle of water!" Yanmei ordered again. "Mine, I'm fainting. I need water?"

"Again? You are thirsty again?" Anton frowned from behind his wife.

"Yes, I need water. Now! Now!" Yanmei demanded. Her words left Chan-Mi and Salvi sweating again.

"Fine," said Anton before moving away and stepping out of the clinic.

Once again, only after Anton left did Chan-Mi said, "Um... about four - five months?"

The doctor nodded and asked, "Unprotected?"

Yanmei was moving her head left and right, giving her daughter a clue that she was pretending not to hear anything. Chan-Mi wound up chuckling, and she answered, "Yes, doctor."

"Okay then. Most likely the cyst is affecting your chances of getting an egg fertile," Dr. Yang concluded.

When Anton returned to give his wife a bottle of water. All he heard from the doctor was, "So we will do as I suggested. We will observe with pills if it goes away... let's have some blood test and have an MRI. Then if it doesn't go away after three months, we'll need to do a surgery."

"I need to use the restroom," said Yanmei.
