Tricking My Cold Lover

The Father and Son Trap

The Father and Son Trap

0"Okay! Are you guys ready? Let's dance!" Announced Alexis as she stood in front of her cousins. She convinced Nari and Ara that she would take the lead of their work-out for that day, visiting the Yeongs in the mansion.

Even Yanmei joined in, hoping to feel young with them. She encouraged, by clapping her hands and she announced, "I'm ready!"

Alexis was Geun and Nari's cousin, a daughter from Andrea. She relocated to Korea a year ago, finding romance altogether in the city.

She cued her boyfriend, Han Jae-hyun, to play the music from his mobile, which was attached to a bluetooth speaker. She instructed, "Play it, Oppa!"

"Everyone! Just follow my lead!" Alexis directed as she took a pose.

~"Cause I-I-I'm in the stars tonight

So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight"~

Alexis began to lead a zumba dance for her everyone, as her body swayed to the tune of Dynamite by BTS.

"What the hell is this, Lex? I'm not going to dance! What the hell?" Geun complained, shocked by sight of hips swaying. He narrowed his eyes at Alexis' boyfriend, Jae-hyun, and said, "This is only for idols!"

"I'm a freaking businessman in the making!" Unfortunately for Geun, nobody listened to his complaining. Everyone was enjoying, dancing to the upbeat song.

"'Cause I-I-I'm in the stars tonight. So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight," Nari sang along before sticking her tongue out for her brother. "Your body is too stiff, Geun. Sway it once in a while!"

Ara just glared at him, delighted by how uncomfortable he was. She too sang along, "Shining through the city with a little funk and soul. So I'ma light it up like dynamite!"

"This is fun! We should have this more often!" Announced Yanmei, trying her hard to follow the youthful steps of the youngsters before her.

"I'm going to the gym!" Announced Geun, turning around at the group of dancing fellows. He just could not bring himself to follow Alexis' steps!

While everyone else was enjoying, dancing to a BTS song, from the patio of the Yeong's mansion, two fathers were looking at each other, both tightening their eyes.

They both sat in front of two bottles of wine, one was already empty.

Clearing his throat, Chun-Ho said, "Tell me something, Yeong. Does Geun like Ara more than just his aid? Because I am starting to feel nervous, sending Ara around Geun."

"Don't be ridiculous, Chun-Ho! My Geun - my son? He is a block of ice, far worse than me! I tell you, he does not have that kind of liking for women!" Countered Anton, flaring his nose and raising a brow at Chun-Ho.

"Really? Then why did he have to kiss Ara last week, when he came after us during our dinner with Aron Shim?!" Chun-Ho pointed out, scoffing towards the end of his words.

"What?! He did what?" Anton asked, raising his voice. He swore it was the first he had heard of it. He immediately gulped down a glass full of wine, feeling thirsty at the revelation.

Anton silently thought, 'Damn, Geun!'

"Did you know that kissing burns 6.4 calories a minute. Maybe it was just fucking workout?!" Anton proposed, sneering with his suggestion.

"Fuck you, Yeong!" Chun-Ho retorted. "Workout my ass!"

"He said he wanted to convince Byeol's father that he was earnestly interested in Ara, but really does it need to be a kiss on the lips!" Chun-Ho said.

"So there you have it! It was an act! He probably slipped! He must have been aiming for Ara's cheeks!" Suggested Anton.

"Huh!" Chun-Ho pointed a finger at Anton and reminded, "Yeong, Ara is still twenty years old. She has two years of college to finish!"

"I know that well, Chun-Ho, and trust me. If I see my children being attracted to anyone, I would know. I am their father and I can see through their attempts to lei and the hidden meaning to their actions!" Anton insisted. "Geun, does not like Ara that way."

"I don't know about seeing through your adult children, Yeong. Don't forget, you also trained them to trick a lie detector test!" Chun-Ho objected to Anton's reasoning.

"Enough about Geun, maybe Ara likes Geun? Does she?" Anton asked.

"Of course not! She looks up to Geun as her future boss and nothing more than that! I have not heard my daughter admiring anyone at school, I don't think she is the type to be interested in boys, or at least, not yet!" Chun-Ho explained.

"Ara is very focused on her studies, her training at the base, and the work that Geun sometimes give her. The only boy she ever spends time with is Geun!"

Following Chun-Ho's revelation, both he and Anton sneered. Anton sighed and said, "The - only - girl Geun ever hangs out with is... Ara. And now, both are pretending to be promised to each other - like a couple."

The two men wound up hissing, almost at the same time.

"We did not see this coming," said Chun-Ho.

"I should have just invited Ye-jun to be Geun's aid, but damn, Ara is just so good at martial arts!" Anton remarked.

"Yes, Yeong. What the hell are you spouting about? Ara deserves it the best," Chun-Ho said. "We - we just never thought about the problem when a girl and a boy spend so much time together."

Anton and Chun-Ho silently drank another glass of wine, thinking about their predicament. After minutes of pondering, Chun-Ho spoke, "Maybe we are overthinking this."

"Yes, maybe there is nothing between them," Anton added.

"We both should be observant and keep an eye on them," suggested Chun-Ho.

"Yes, that I will do," said Anton.

A week passed, following Anton and Chun-Ho's agreement. One of Anton's man came to report Ara's strange struggle to get a cab or a Kakaotaxi from school to home. She often ended up calling Geun for help when Chun-Ho or Byeol was not available to fetch her from school.

He purposely called Geun to the mansion and straight into the study for a one-on-one talk.

"What is it, Dad?" Geun calmly asked, looking at the time. It was two hours before Ara's last class would end.

"Sit down, son," said Anton.

"Did you know that Ara has been struggling to get a ride home from school lately?" Anton asked while leaning back against his seat.

"Ah, no wonder she has been bothering me to fetch her from school," Geun said calmly.

"Don't give me that shit, boy! Don't you think I would not know how you practically threatened the Kakaotaxi programer with his affairs, just so you could block Ara from getting a driver?!" Anton raised his voice while widening his eyes on his son.

"Such a troublesome way to get Ara to ask for your help," said Anton.

"I don't know what you are talking about, Dad? That is so bothersome! Why would I do that?" Geun responded.

"Haha! You can't fool me, Geun! I did exactly the same to your Mom before we got together! I know all about these traps! If anything, I am the master of it!" Anton announced, wanting to corner Geun.

"You could have just gone for the simple things like hack on her phone, making it freeze and only allow her to call your number!" Anton told. He meant to look down at Geun's ways, but instead gave a suggestion.

"Or offer yourself to aid the school's activities, that way you can simply be found near her! But going through so much trouble as to blackmailing Kakaotaxi's programer is rather tedious!"

For a moment, Geun's eyes shifted from one side to the other. He asked, "So... you did this to, Mom? And did she ever know?"

Anton scoffed and said, "Of course, not! Your mother never knew a single thing!"

"Knew about what, mine?" Geun and Anton turned to find Yanmei, entering the door of the study.

"Mom, Dad just admitted to trapping you in more ways than one. Although, it must have worked since you are now our Mom," said Geun.

"What trap, Yeong? What is Geun talking about?" Yanmei repeated, putting her hands on her waist.

Anton's gazed narrowed at Geun. He said, "For the record, I never trapped your mother. She was all over me the first time she saw me! And your mother tricked me! Never, the other way around!"

"No, I wasn't!" Yanmei countered, and the two ended up in an argument about how they got together.

"Well, you should settle this on your own, Mom, Dad, I need to fetch Ara from school," said Geun the moment he saw the chance to flee.

Geun rushed to the driveway where his car remained parked and just as he turned on his engine; he grinned seeing Ara call. He answered it, pretending to be occupied, "What is it, Ara? You need a ride home again?"

"What can I do, Geun? I can't get a taxi!" Ara responded.

Geun sighed and answered, "Ara, you are such a bother. Wait there. I'll fetch you, but you owe me dinner."
