Tricking My Cold Lover

Haru's help

Haru's help

0Iseul took half a day at work. Yeona was entirely on leaves, accompanying her family on a tour around the city, buying souvenirs for that day.

After having lunch, Iseul went to fetch them from the mall.

From inside the car, Iseul said, "I wanted to go house shopping today for when we would marry." He glanced at Yeona's parents, seated at the back. "Aunt, uncle, may I invite you to come with us?"

"Well, very well prepared, aren't we?" Mun-Hee remarked, Yeona's mother. "Of course, we will, Iseul."

"Do you mind choosing a place where there is a spare room for when I graduate?" Yeona's brother added because he meant to apply for work in the city, just like his sister.

Yeona giggled and reached for her brother's hair. She scratched against his head carelessly before saying, "Of course, bro. We already anticipated that."

Dong-hyun, Yeona's father sighed. He said, "Sorry. I can't help but still be emotional at my daughter getting married."

Yeona smiled and reached for her father's hand. She said, "Dad, we already talked about this."

Just last night, they had a sincere talk about Yeona's plans. She had heartily expressed how happy she was with Iseul and reminded them that she was old enough to marry.

"I know, Yeona. I know." With another sigh, Yeona's father said, "Let's go."

They drove to Omega Tower, a new condominium building where Yena's cousin was working as the property manager.

When they arrived, Yeona asked, "Isn't this?"

"Yes, I supposed, being connected to your cousin, we could get a discount?" said Iseul before winking at Yeona. "Not that... we need any, but we should always make use of our... resources."

Yeona's parents, and brother looked at each other. They were surprised that Iseul still wanted to see Haru when she had practically looked down on him two days back.

"Maybe it's not a good idea to see Haru," suggested Yeona's mother.

Yeona felt the same, but Iseul said, "It's fine, aunt. I don't mind seeing Haru again. Besides, I have already made an appointment."

As soon as they entered the building, the receptionist asked them to wait in the lobby. Haru came after ten minutes, faking a smile on her face. She walked out with one of their sales representatives, Mr. So.

While Haru was the property manager, the sales reps were more knowledgeable about the features of each unit, so she ordered Mr. So to come along.

"Hello, aunt, uncle, Ji-hoon, and cuz," said Haru. "Iseul. So nice speaking with you on the phone and as I promised you a discount for your unit."

"Of course, I look forward to it," said Iseul, returning a smile at Haru.

Seeing Iseul carrying a huge duffle bag, Haru said, "Iseul, you can leave that bag in our reception. It looks very heavy."

"Oh, I'd rather carry this with me. It's very valuable," Iseul said back.

"Very well, we will take you to our most... most affordable accommodation," said Haru.

Haru and the sales representative took them to a studio type condominium first. It practically covered only forty square meters of space. While it was the most affordable, Iseul said, "We need a unit with at least three bedrooms. This is more of a bachelor's pad."

"But Iseul, this unit already costs one million dollars. It's way outside your budget already!" Explained Haru.

Mr. So, the sales rep, was left confused. This was not the way they worked. He said, "If you are getting married soon, this would not suit you. Having a family, you would at least require our premium homes... and you don't need to worry. We have flexible payment plans for you to avail of."

"You deserve much better," the sales rep added.

Haru scoffed at Mr. So and said, "You - you don't know what you are talking about."

It was because Tae-hwan had not yet spoken to Haru that she knew not of Iseul's deposit at the West Korean Bank. Still, she assumed Iseul could not afford any of their homes.

After being taken to a three-bedroom type condominium, Iseul pretended to be nervous. He said, "Three million dollars, huh? Phew... that is pricy."

Even Yeona's parents thought it was too much. Iseul could easily buy a mansion in their province for the said amount.

Yeona flushed with just the idea that Iseul was getting her a comfortable home for their future family. She could tell he liked what he was seeing, merely misleading her cousin. Somehow, she liked what he was doing to Haru.

Meanwhile, Haru shrugged and said to Iseul, "What did I tell you? This is just too much for you!"

Yeona's parents studied Iseul's expression. They were not sure what to believe anymore. If anything, Iseul had turned out very surprising. They simply remained to be observers.

They understood the need of maintaining a home in the city and not in the province, for their work required it.

Ji-hoon, on the other hand, said, "Sis, bro. I honestly don't mind sleeping on the sofa for when I come here after college."

It was at the property's office that they resumed their consultation. Haru continued to insist for Iseul to take the studio type condo unit while the sales rep highlighted the benefits of taking the three-bedroom unit.

Iseul took his time deciding, and it made Haru lose her patience. She announced, "You know what Iseul! I'll give you back my full 5% commission for the unit you choose. How is that? We badly need to get this over with. I don't have all day."

She rolled her eyes, suggesting she pitied Iseul.

"Plus, our standard 5% discount for cash payments!" Revealed the sales rep.

"Pfft! What cash payment are you talking about? Haha! Funny." Haru completely dismissed the idea. She turned to Iseul and said, "Just give the sales guy a tip since he helped out showing the units."

Iseul was her referral, and thus credits of the commission would go to her. She meant to only share a little to Mr. So, but since she would give away her full commission, it was best for Iseul to give the tip instead.

"Is - is it allowed to take out your commission outright from the total cost?" Iseul asked, wanting to be sure Haru would give her end of the bargain.

"Ah, no, but we have a waiver form that we can sign and give to our clients," Haru proudly explained. "We do this sometimes to close the deal and the clients will get a check back when the commission is ready. Normally, I just give 1% of my commission, but since it's you, Yeona and Iseul, I am happy to help in any way I can and give you my full commission."

"Very well, then. I'd like to have that waiver then!" Announced Isuel.

Haru forced a smile and said to the sales rep, "Do you mind preparing the documents for me?"

"Yes, mam," said the sales rep. He turned to Iseul and asked, "What unit will you take, sir?"

Iseul: "The three-bedroom."

Haru: 'Three-bedroom?'

Sales rep: "Good choice, sir. Are you paying cash or taking advantage of any flexible payment plan?"

Iseul: "There is another discount for cash payment, right?"

Sales rep: "Yes."

Haru scoffed again, hearing Iseul asked about cash payments.

Iseul, brought out his duffle bag and put it on top of the table where they were sitting in front of. He opened the bag and revealed a stack of cash and said, "I'll pay cash. Who is going to count?"

Haru's eyes grew wide, shocked to see so much cash in her life. Rarely did they have clients who paid in full, all the more in actual cash.

The sales rep scratched his head and said, "Wow. I'll - I'll ask our accounts to count the cash."

Iseul smirked at the sales rep and said, "For your help, Mr. So, I'll give you Haru's 5% commission as a tip."

"..."

The corner of Haru's mouth curved into a sneer. Her throat dried, and she felt her chest congesting. She silently asked herself, 'Did - did I just lose nearly a hundred eighty thousand worth of commission?'

'And! He is giving it to the sales rep????!!!!!!!'
