CEO's Pampered Sweetheart

C65 Mu Shengchen Was Promoted

C65 Mu Shengchen Was Promoted

0In the Mu's Group, the meeting room was incredibly packed.

It was a big day, as such, all the higher-ups were already present. From the oldest shareholder to the youngest, all of them were there to see what the announcement was about. Everyone was chatting away, catching up with their latest buy-in or vacation.

Everyone was in high spirits, and as usual, Mu Shengchen sat in the corner as if he didn't exist at all. Normally, he would've blended well in the dark, but the cartoon Band-Aid was so eye-catching that he couldn't hide even if he wanted to.

Whenever they'd go in, they'd immediately stop to glance at his chin. With such a cute Band-Aid sitting on his cold and emotionless face, some may see it to be very unusual. After all, who would've thought that such a frigid man would have such a thing on his face?

Mu Zhenghong, who had been sitting at the front this entire time, glanced in Mu Shengchen's direction. Seeing this, he slowly stood up. "I asked everyone to come over today because I want to announce something. Because of private reasons, Mu Jinbo has been suspended from his position. Mu Shengchen will temporarily take over the position as General Manager."

As soon as the words slipped his lips, the old man narrowed his eyes and gazed at the others, trying to spot any violent reactions.

Weng Bisa and Mu Zhengsheng simply shared a look of comprehension, but they didn't react as much as he had thought. Instead, they sat there with their heads bowed and arms folded as if they respected his decision.

Mu Shengchen's eyes were unfocused. Even his expression screamed 'bored' as he tilted his head to the side, looking as if he hadn't been listening to their conversation. "Hm," he hummed to himself.

The others, however, immediately broke into whispers. Everyone glanced at the man on the wheelchair before bringing their gazes on the CEO himself. "What the hell happened?" they whispered to one another, as if trying to get a hold of the reason.

"Does anyone have any objections?" Mu Zhenghong spoke, and immediately, the whispers turned flat. It had become so quiet that anyone could hear a pin drop. "Well?"

Obviously, no one would dare object the designation.

Satisfied with their silence, he nodded. "Then the matter has been decided. The meeting is adjourned."

As soon as the CEO left the conference room, the others immediately stood up and walked towards Mu Shengchen. All of them bowed their head as they clasped onto his shoulders as if he were a longtime friend.

"Congratulations," they greeted.

"Thank you so much," he said calmly, nodding.

After a few more pleasantries, they soon left the conference room one after the other, leaving him alone with Weng Bisa and Mu Zhengsheng. As silence soon succeeded them, the old woman suddenly stepped forward to greet him.

"Shengchen." She frowned. "What happened to your face?"

"It's just a small injury." His finger trailed down the band-aid on his chin. He had almost forgotten about it until she reminded him. "I accidentally cut it with a razer."

"Oh, you shouldn't be so careless next time. You know how dangerous those are." Sighing, Weng Bisa shook her head. Although he didn't like her, he had to admit–she played the considerate stepmother down to a T.

He simply pressed his lips together in response. "Did you find Jinbo?"

"Not yet. He had most probably gone through your father's last straw." Genuine disappointment filled her features as she shook her head. Weng Bisa rubbed the back of her neck as if she were given a burden she couldn't carry. "Ugh, I swear, that boy is just filled with trouble."

"I'm sure he'll come around." His voice still remained indifferent.

This time, Mu Zhengsheng walked over with the documents in his hand. "Shengchen," he said. "I'll have someone hand over Jinbo's paperwork to you in a bit, all right?"

"Thank you, Second Uncle." With one last nod, he waved at Ye Xi and allowed him to push him away.

As soon as the man left, Weng Bisa's considerate face soured. She looked like a lion who had just lost her cub. "How could he look so arrogant when he just replaced my Jinbo?" she said through gritted teeth. "You think he earned it–"

"Don't play around," Mu Zhengsheng reminded lowly. "Remember your place."

"I've already given that asshole enough face! Don't you think that's enough?"

There was silence before he spoke, "My men have already found Jinbo."

"What?" All the anger disappeared from her features as she looked up. "You've found him already?"

"I've already asked someone to send him back to his apartment for the time being. For now, he's safe." Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind, and he added, "Once he recovers, he could be sent back to you."

"How is he then? I should visit him–bring him back to Han Garden before he runs away again." However, just as she was about to leave, he held her back. "What are you doing? Let go of me!"

"Your son's been found drunk in a bar...he still hasn't woken up yet–" Suddenly, a knock came from the door.

They immediately fell silent.

"Come in."

The door to the conference room was slowly pushed open as Weng Bisa's secretary scurried in. "Manager Weng." She bowed in respect. "The director has been looking for you."

"All right." With a nod, she was about to leave with her secretary when Mu Zhengsheng stopped her.

"Manager Weng, please don't forget to bring these documents to the director. This is very important." As he was passing the folder over to her, he shot her a look. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it." Without another word, she left the conference room.

Not long after Mu Shengchen had returned to his office, Mu Jinbo's assistant immediately came in with a bunch of paperwork in his arms. "Young Master," he hurriedly said. "These are all of Second Master's unfinished work, and I've also attached all the information that you might need–"

"Ye Xi, go to the apartment and pick her up for dinner later," Mu Shengchen interrupted, glancing at his own assistant. He didn't even look like he had been listening to the man in front of him.

"Yes, Sir." It didn't take him a long time to realize who he was referring to.

Mu Jinbo's assistant was ultimately made speechless. Not knowing what to say or how else to react, he could simply stand there and stare at his documents. Noticing him, Ye Xi waved his hand. "You can put them away."

The assistant scowled unhappily. He initially wanted to argue with the man, but when he realized that Mu Shengchen was sitting there, he could only swallow his pride and step out of the way.

As soon as he left, Ye Xi informed his boss, "Young Master, he's Second Master's assistant–Xia Zhi. Mu Zhengsheng had him specifically trained to fit Second Master's needs. He's quite a talent."

"Hm."

"I'll ask someone to organize these documents."

Mu Shengchen simply waved his hand in response.

On the other side of the city, Ning Qianyu wasn't having the time of her life. Instead, she sat there uncomfortably, listening to Professor Mo Yan's lecture. It was interesting if she wasn't so nervous.

There were only a few slots for Professor Mo Yan's lecture today. The major hospitals had gotten lucky in getting a few slots for themselves. Yet, they found Ning Qianyu grabbing a slot just like that. As soon as they saw her walking in, all their eyes were trained on her as they tried to guess which hospital she came from.

Many of their gazes belonged to a few of her colleagues as well. Even the thought of them staring at her was enough to make her brain itch.

Just when she was already feeling uneasy, Mo Yan's voice echoed across the room, "Classmate Ning, why don't you come up and help me explain this slide?"

0

She looked up to see him waving her over.

Hesitating for a moment, she placed her bag on her seat and walked up to the podium.

"I...Of course, so in neurology..." With his encouraging gaze, Ning Qianyu began to take over the discussion. She waved her arms around as she directed everyone's attention to the slides. Soon enough, she began to grow even more comfortable as she explained the concept behind the pictures. When she finished, everyone burst into applause.

"Thank you." She returned to her seat.

Mo Yan's lecture continued. This time, she was able to get over her previous uneasiness and listen to the lecture at hand. She even took a few notes.

Ning Qianyu had just stood up with her bag when one of her former colleagues walked towards her.

"Doctor Ning, long time no see!"

Ning Qianyu smiled. "Director Peng, you of all people should know that my medical license has been revoked. Sadly, I couldn't be called a doctor anymore."

"I...About that..." Director Peng coughed uncomfortably. "We know that the accident wasn't your responsibility. It was the hospital that made the decision, and you know how things are–"

"It's fine. What's done is done." Her voice still remained distant. "I don't blame you, don't worry about it."

"Qianyu, did you offend someone?" Director Peng asked.

Offend someone? She blinked for some time before shaking her head. She was a doctor, a conscientious one at that–how could she have offended anybody? It wasn't as if she had done anything to upset anyone lately.

"I should be leaving now." Ning Qianyu grabbed her bag. "Thank you for your concern. And it was nice seeing you."

As soon as she walked out of the door, she saw Mo Yan leaning against the doorway. He seemed to be waiting for her. She blinked in surprise. "Professor Mo Yan, you're here."

"I see you talking with Director Peng earlier. I didn't know you were familiar with the doctors at the City Neurology Hospital," he said calmly, shrugging.

She shrugged. "I've seen them a couple of times from all the seminars I've taken."

"Oh? How about we go have lunch together?" His eyes glittered. "Now, don't reject me. I've already rejected the invitation from all the directors here."

Her lips curled upwards. "You've rejected them? And here I was thinking I'll be able to get a free meal out of this too."

"Now, you don't have a chance." He looked crestfallen from the sudden revelation.

Ning Qianyu couldn't help but laugh. "Professor Mo Yan, why don't you let me treat you to lunch?"

"I'll make you spend a lot of money." His eyes glittered.

"Order whatever you want. It's my treat."
